Union Latine base

The Latin Union gold coins were issued from 1865. The issuing countries were Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy, Greece joined the group in 1868. United in this monetary convention based on the gold-silver bimetallism regime from 1865 to 1927, the signatory countries established a common monetary organization as well as the standardization of the coins minted in these States.

We find in this Latin Union base, coins such as the 20 fr. Napoleon, the 20 fr. Leopold I, the 20 fr. Vrenelis and the 20 lire. Buoyed by the success, other countries were added to the list (32) Germany and the United Kingdom were the notable absentees.
