Union Latine base

Union Latine gold coins were issued from 1865. The issuing countries were Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy. Greece joined the group in 1868. United in this monetary convention based on the of gold-silver bimetallism from 1865 to 1927, the signatory countries will establish a common monetary organization as well as the standardization of the currencies minted in these States.

 

We find in this base of Latin union, coins such as 20 fr. Napoleon, 20 fr. Leopold I, 20 fr. Vrenelis and the 20 lire. Building on the success, other countries will be added to the list (32) Germany and the United Kingdom were the main absentees.
