American Eagle
The American Eagle in gold is one of the most popular investment coins in the world. Its origins date back to 1795, when a coin called the Eagle was first minted in the United States. It was the official currency in the United States until the ban on gold in 1933. The first coin was issued in 1986 by the US Mint. It is officially part of the United States of America and is therefore guaranteed. On a design by Augustus Saint Gaudens, the obverse depicts the goddess of freedom "Lady Liberty". On the reverse, based on an idea by Miley Busiek, there is an American bald eagle with an olive branch in its talons, a sign of peace. Until 1991, the years are indicated in Roman numerals. From 1992 onwards, the date is minted in Arabic numerals. In 2020, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle history. The US Mint introduced a new design, the reverse features an enlarged eagle head. It was designed by designer Jennie Norris. The new Eagle design will be available on coins issued in 2021
